We’re proud of our successful open-book management implementation. Just over a year ago – in July 2014, we opened up our books to the entire company. On a weekly basis, the entire team started getting together for forecasting, updates on quarterly bonuses, and sales scoreboard reviews. Our company-wide adoption of this practice is no surprise, because it can be tied back to our values. The BFO team has always shared a “we don’t just work here” attitude. Open-book management has enabled us to scale that – making sure that as we grow (and we’re growing fast!), no one is a cog in a wheel or left in the dark. Everyone on the BFO team is invested in the future of the business with a deep understanding of how they affect the numbers, and how the numbers affect them.
We are looking forward to continuing our growth while maintaining our entrepreneurial culture, and open-book management will be a big part of it. If you’re interested in trying open-book management, stop by the Chicago office or dial in for one of our weekly GGOB (Great Game of Business) meetings to get an idea of how it can work. Visitors are always welcome – just contact us to request the current meeting information.
