Google Analytics 360 Announces New UA Sunset Date

November 01, 2022

2 Minute Read

Earlier this year, we covered Google’s announcement that they will sunset all Universal Analytics (UA) properties next year in 2023. Specifically, standard UA accounts would sunset July 1st, 2023, and GA360 accounts would sunset October 1st, 2023. On Friday, October 27th, 2022, Google released an update that while standard UA accounts would still sunset on July 1st, 2023, the original sunset date, GA360 accounts will have until July 1st, 2024, a full year after the standard UA accounts.

Why Did Google Make This Change?

Google cited recognizing it will take larger enterprise accounts with complex setups longer to make a smooth transition. In addition, they are focusing on enhancing the GA4 experience before GA360 users are forced to make the switch. GA360 users are warned that efforts for UA will be decreased in 2023 so they can focus more on GA4, and in 2024 their entire focus will be GA4.

So, if you currently have GA360, DO NOT delay your GA4 migration. This extension gives you an opportunity to better refine your analytics configuration and ensure your Year-over-Year data is populated correctly.
